Action-jonas action-jonas.gif   07/30/2003   551x681

Yet another pic of Jonas. All that's missing is the Batsignal. ;P I hammered this one out in Illustrator with Puretone's 'Addicted to Bass' playing on endless repeat.

Anubisfetch anubisfetch.gif   07/04/2004   555x710

Art for Further Confusion '05. Everybody's favorite psychopomp intercepts a leisurely thrown projectile.

Dragon-crow dragon-crow.jpg   12/11/2002   350x603

A Chinese dragon, which is my father's semi-avatar, and a crow for his partner, cavorting in the sky. Pencils by me; inks, colors and awesome background stuff by oCeLoT.

Dude1 dude1.gif   12/22/1999   606x650

A slightly crazed-looking otterdude shoots a gnarly wave.

Dude2 dude2.gif   12/22/1999   529x656

The aftermath of the previous image. Boy, that beach was closer than it looked, huh? ;)

Dume dume.gif   01/08/2000   800x301

Comic-strip nyuks and giggles from yours truly.

Dvix dvix.jpg   09/12/1999   575x741

A devilish vixen in a bikini, drawn in a vaguely Coop-esque style for a T-shirt design. Traced over in Adobe Illustrator from a pencil sketch. Special thanks for Mark Freid for the concept.

Fc03-poster fc03-poster.jpg   02/17/2003   500x646

Alice in Wonderland meets the '60s. Here's the final version of the Further Confusion 2003 conbook cover, all vector-traced up nice.

Fc05 fc05.gif   04/17/2004   556x496

Anubis, Horus and Sekhmet get funky. Promo art for Further Confusion 2005's theme, "Furries on the Nile."

Flight2 flight2.jpg   09/12/1999   420x600

Azrael, winged daughter of the mythical Coyote, takes to the air above dusky canyons. Background rendered in Bryce; character traced over with Adobe Illustrator from a pencil sketch. Coloring and shading courtesy of Photoshop. Azrael is copyright Regan S. Pylman.

Foxspy foxspy.jpg   02/29/2000   554x597

A villainous-looking, 1940s-style fox spy. Vector-traced and shaded in Adobe Illustrator 8.0 (finally got the new version!)

Furbq2000 furbq2000.gif   07/22/2002   545x765

I dunno who started it, but every year around early June, the Southern California types 'round here gather in Orange County for a little gathering called the Fur-B-Q. It's gotten bigger in recent years, but it was intended as sort of an alternative setting to a con, a chance to get outdoors, hike, cook up some burgers, hang out with pals. Somehow I got suckered into doing the flyer for it, and it's been a tradition ever since. ;) The demented little otterdude here is Dume, a character I created originally for a t-shirt. :) This was the flyer for 2000.

Furbq2001 furbq2001.gif   07/22/2002   555x706

Here's the Fur-B-Q flyer for 2001. Many, many thanks to Loran for helping me with the mega-soaker-gun. (He did a quick trace in Flash, which I ported back into Illustrator and 'fitted' to the characters.) Just for the record, the little raccoon guy with the water pistol isn't Jonas; he's Rand, another raccoon character (gasp!) I created. He started out as a totally random no-plot character, just kind of this irritable little woodlands guy that I'd doodle in page margins. I might stick him and Dume in a comic together, one of these days.

Furbq2002 furbq2002.gif   07/22/2002   555x750

And here's the Fur-B-Q flyer for 2002. You can't really read the fine print, but Dume's bag of chips reads: "Chipitos! New Cool Jalapeno BBQ Flavor!" Otters rock, I must say. This one was an effort to trace, with so many characters and layers and stuff, but it was worth it in the end. :) After she saw it, a friend asked me: "How can you skewer clams with a fork?" I just said, "They're 'toon clams. Like everything in a cartoon, they have the consistency of marshmallows." ;)

Get-the-bone get-the-bone.jpg   09/19/2002   500x618

Something completely random, doodled for no good reason while watching Cartoon Network. I need to watch less television. ;P

Higgins-tree higgins-tree.jpg   08/26/2002   400x479

Here's Higgins in his '70s album cover debut. :D Done with a legion of Prismacolor pencils on Strathmore Bristol board. The gold dragon's copyright to Higgins Dragon.

Huxley-badge huxley-badge.jpg   01/21/2004   500x350

Here's Huxley's badge for FC2004. He's a transgenic glowing-green mutant 'yote snowboarder. But other than that he's just an average guy. ;)

Ijonas ijonas.gif   12/04/2003   750x575

I couldn't resist. :D

Jadeclaw-sidebar jadeclaw-sidebar.gif   07/19/2002   341x500

One of my contributions to the 'Jadeclaw' supplement to the Ironclaw RPG produced by Sanguine. The panda and the dragon represent two of the four types of magic disciplines in the game. I think I like the panda better than the dragon, but I'm satisfied with the pieces overall. They actually appeared separately in the book, but I'm lazy. ;)

Jedi-ly jedi-ly.jpg   07/22/2002   500x623

And here's...Jedi Lyosha. She's so down with the Force, she don't even need pants. I had to upload this, or else she'd gnaw my face off. ;)

Jonas-2003 jonas-2003.jpg   07/24/2003   624x679

Welcome to my world. Here's the latest incarnation of Jonas, with what I'd pretty much say is a canonical color scheme for him. If you get all the stuff in the background, I pity you. ;) Oh, BTW, I'm taking commissions. http://jonas.critter.net

Jonas jonas.gif   11/23/1999   450x471

There's a thin line between genius and madness, and I think I forgot to ink it. ;)

Looming looming.jpg   11/18/2002   494x640

A bat guy, the result of another collaboration with oCeLoT. (I came up with the idea and did the original sketch, ink and foreground colors; oCe added the background, extra shading and glowy highlighty stuff). Look for prints at FurCon in January!

Loran-badge loran-badge.jpg   01/21/2004   500x372

Loran's badge for FC2004. He's the videographer this year, so I figured this'd be appropriate. ^_^

Masterpiece masterpiece.gif   02/28/2004   505x514

Jonas shows off his latest avant-garde creation. ;)

Meow2 meow2.jpg   09/12/1999   504x356

A non-morphic tiger crouches on all fours, staring intensely at his tail. Inked with a Pigma brushpen and colored with Prismacolor markers.

Mystee-badge mystee-badge.jpg   01/23/2004   500x356

Here's Mystee, a hybrid of red squirrel and red fox that I've depicted before. :) This is her FC2004 badge.

No-serv no-serv.gif   12/04/1999   600x458

Something's amiss at the Big Top.

Pussycat pussycat.jpg   05/03/2003   500x645

Chespi the Cheetah belongs to Erin Middendorf. And Chespi's not really like this, but I just thought she'd look cute in punk regalia. Done the usual way (pencils, then a marathon trace in Illustrator). Ever so slightly censored to be Yerfable. ^_^;

Ritual ritual.gif   11/21/1999   489x800

A lot of lean, feral wolves engage in some terrifying ritual by firelight. Done on commission for Sanguine Productions, Ltd., maker of the Ironclaw RPG (www.ironclaw.gs).

Squixen squixen.jpg   12/22/1999   600x800

Mystee, a squixen (vixen + squirrel). Yeah, I know. ;) Vector-traced in Abobe Illustrator from a pencil sketch. Mystee's © Shelley Caldwell.

Vix vix.gif   12/22/1999   556x544

A sleepy-eyed vixen in a semi-realistic style. Done with Pigma tech pens in my sketchbook.

Werewoof werewoof.gif   02/08/2000   728x500

An evil (yet silly) werewolf caricature, with a bit of dramatic lighting thrown in.

Whiterab whiterab.gif   11/23/1999   600x742

An homage to both Alice in Wonderland and the counterculture art of the 1960s, rendered in Adobe Illustrator from a pencil sketch.

Wulf wulf.jpg   08/22/2002   512x384

Some shaggy ol' naked wolf guy waits for dusk. Tried to go for a rainy, overcast, foggy look here, remembering my recent visit to San Francisco.

Xianlake xianlake.gif   09/26/1999   403x600

A special pic for XianJaguar's birthday. Xian waits by a lake in the moment before dawn. Character (C) Brenda DiAntonis. Created using traditional media, Photoshop, Illustrator and Bryce.
